NABARD Opens New District Development Manager (DDM) Office in Udalguri

Udalguri, 30 May 2025: The National Bank for Agriculture and Rural Development (NABARD), India’s apex development bank established in 1982 under an Act of Parliament, continues to foster sustainable and equitable agriculture and rural development across the country. In line with this mission, NABARD has inaugurated a new District Development Manager (DDM) office in Udalguri district of Assam — a significant step towards strengthening its developmental presence and deepening rural outreach in the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).On 30th May 2025, NABARD has virtually inaugurated 61 new DDM offices across the country in the presence of Dr. A. K. Sood and Goverdhan Singh Rawat, Deputy Managing Directors (DMDs) of NABARD.In Udalguri, the inauguration was attended by Gaurav Kumar Bhattacharya, DDM of Darang District; .Munmi Khaund, newly appointed DDM of Udalguri; Dijen Chaudhary, District Agriculture Officer; Kulendra Deka, Senior Agriculture Development Officer; along with representatives from the banking sector, CFL, ASRLM, and Project Directors of NABARD-implemented projects.The newly established DDM office will serve as a crucial link between NABARD and various stakeholders in the district, including government departments, banks, NGOs, and rural communities. It will facilitate more effective implementation and monitoring of developmental initiatives focused on sustainable agriculture, rural infrastructure, livelihood promotion, and financial inclusion.Speaking on the occasion, Dr. A. K. Sood emphasized the vital role of DDMs in collaborating with state governments and channel partners to implement various Government of India development schemes at the district level. Goverdhan Singh Rawat highlighted the importance of DDMs in coordinating district-level planning, promoting credit flow, identifying local challenges, and proposing sustainable solutions.This strategic expansion is in alignment with NABARD’s mission to ensure that development finance reaches the grassroots level, thereby contributing to the socio-economic upliftment of rural communities across India.
